Small Hydro has various definitions around the world. By VAPTECH standards a small hydropower plant is a plant with one or several turbine-generator units where the unit capacity is not more than 10 MW.

Design Based on our knowledge and experience and partnerships with leading design houses we are able to offer optimized turbines for each small hydropower project. These turbine designs are a result of a fully parameterized model that goes through digital development.

The Boutique approach or also custom- or tailor-made ensures that the core components and thus the complete hydropower system are designed to match exactly the ambient natural and project specifics.

We design in-house the turbine, main inlet valve and we create the turbine governor software.

Manufacturing The turbine or the heart of the hydropower plant is manufactured in our own mechanical workshop. The production facility is the home of more than 300 employees with a centurial experience in manufacturing technology, planning and execution for small- and largehydro turbines and valves.

VAPTECH workshop is able to deliver all the processes from plate development to surface treatment and factory assembly and testing. The successful realization of the complete hydropower project requires a permanent coordination and timing between the contractor and its customer on one hand and between the contractor and its suppliers on the other hand.
