About this Certification Competence is essential for Ericsson technology leadership. Broad end to end understanding of the radio access networks technology, portfolio and business is a key success factor. The RAN Associate exam is beneficial for functions within Sales, Service delivery, R&D, etc. The RAN Associate exam certifies that the successful candidate has got basic knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to achieve a conceptual understanding of RAN fundamentals, RAN architecture, RAN technology, RAN functionalities and the Radio portfolio. Broad Radio portfolio competence strengthens the ability to cope with challenges of portfolio complexities as of heterogeneous networks, multi standard radio, etc. It also s the ability to apply solutions with a customer end to end view, e.g. small cells. Understanding the wide scope of the RAN fundamentals and technology increases the confidence in the customer dialog and increases the customer perception of Ericsson as a technology leader. The RAN Associate technical certification is aimed for any employee within Ericsson globally that has an advantage of demonstrating RAN end to end competence. Examples: Technical Sales, Engagement Managers, Solution Architects, Technical SMEs, R&D engineers, Service engineers, etc. It gives recognition to individuals and is not limited to certain job roles or positions.

Prerequisites The RAN Associate Certification is open to all Ericsson employees. Giving guidance to this certification, a successful candidate is expected to have the following prerequisites: Inherited capabilities:
Basic education within radio technique. University level or similar.
Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience is expected
Job stage 5, or typically higher - though not limited
In addition, the candidate is also expected to have an understanding of:

Industry technology evolution and overall business trends
Basic knowledge of the RAN Technologies, RAN architecture and RAN functionalities as well as the Ericsson Radio portfolio and main solutions
Get Ready The challenge to this exam is to have broad end-to-end competence within the Radio Access Networks wide scope. Basic knowledge and comprehension within each section is required. Preparation is strongly recommended: 1. View the description of the RAN Associate Certification scope (last page) and then read carefully the knowledge objectives within each section below (Chapter 5). 2. Have a look at the sample questions available from ET RAN Associate exam page. There are 10-20 look-a-like questions, to get a feeling of the certification difficulty level and wide range. 3. Select a number of applicable training courses recommended, to refresh or build competence within certain competence area/-s. Training is available from several different Radio Portfolio Academies, you find an overview of them at the Radio ET guidance page.

Knowledge Objectives and Recommended Trainings Please read each “Knowledge objective” described below, and then proceed with recommended training within those areas that are less familiar or unknown. The exam questions within each competence area are fundamentally written. The candidate is expected to prove theoretical Knowledge – Identify facts (know about, define, reproduce, present, and count) as well as Comprehension – Describe (understand, explain, translate, discern, and interpret). Recommended training is available from several Radio Portfolio Academies, you find an overview of them at the Radio ET guidance page. Most of the Radio Portfolio Academies have a separate page for ET training where you always find the latest recommendations. You may also use the Search function at any of the Radio Portfolio Academies to quickly find certain training. Below you find examples of trainings connected to each knowledge objective. Regarding Instructor Lead classroom Training courses (ILT) which also are beneficial, the candidate is advised to either look for them in ITM or else the local Ericsson Academy / Regional Education Centers for further information. Please note that listed trainings are recommendations to refresh or build competence within certain competence area/-s. Exam questions are not limited to the training resources, as both formal education (or similar) and experience is expected - see chapter 2 above “Prerequisites”. Among the recommended training course examples below there might be some which are recorded some time back and include examples that may be old and not yet updated. If they are still available from any of the Radio Portfolio Academies they are still valid from a strategy and technology fundamental perspective, else they are obsolete and should be ignored.

About this Certification Competence is essential for Ericsson technology leadership. Broad end to end understanding of the radio access networks technology, portfolio and business is a key success factor. The RAN Associate exam is beneficial for functions within Sales, Service delivery, R&D, etc. The RAN Associate exam certifies that the successful candidate has got basic knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to achieve a conceptual understanding of RAN fundamentals, RAN architecture, RAN technology, RAN functionalities and the Radio portfolio. Broad Radio portfolio competence strengthens the ability to cope with challenges of portfolio complexities as of heterogeneous networks, multi standard radio, etc. It also s the ability to apply solutions with a customer end to end view, e.g. small cells. Understanding the wide scope of the RAN fundamentals and technology increases the confidence in the customer dialog and increases the customer perception of Ericsson as a technology leader. Have a look at the sample questions available from ET RAN Associate exam page. There are 10-20 look-a-like questions, to get a feeling of the certification difficulty level and wide range. 3. Knowledge Objectives and Recommended Trainings Please read each “Knowledge objective” described below, and then proceed with recommended training within those areas that are less familiar or unknown. The exam questions within each competence area are fundamentally written. The candidate is expected to prove theoretical Knowledge – Identify facts (know about, define, reproduce, present, and count) as well as Comprehension – Describe (understand, explain, translate, discern, and interpret). Recommended training is available from several Radio Portfolio Academies, you find an overview of them at the Radio ET guidance page. Most of the Radio Portfolio Academies have a separate page for ET training where you always find the latest recommendations. You may also use the Search function at any of the Radio Portfolio Academies to quickly find certain training. Below you find examples of trainings connected to each knowledge objective. Regarding Instructor Lead classroom Training courses (ILT) which also are beneficial, the candidate is advised to either look for them in ITM or else the local Ericsson Academy / Regional Education Centers for further information.
