Conducting classes Classes will be conducted in two slots/ week of 3 hours each (Instruction 1 hr. +Sketching & Practice 2 hr.)

Scheme of Evaluation for Internal Assessment (25 Marks) 1. 15 Marks for Class work (Sketching & Computer Aided Engineering drawing printouts in A4 size sheets). 2. 10 Marks for test in the same pattern as that of the main examination. (Better of the two Tests).All the solutions must be valued on the spot by examining the sketches, display and the hard copies. Scheme of Examination 1. Chapter 1 is only for practice and Internal Assessment and not for examination. 2. Separate Question paper must be set for each batch of students, tly by the Internal & External examiners. 3. Students have to submit the computer printouts and the sketches drawn on the graph sheets at the end of the examination. Both Internal & External examiners have to tly evaluate the solutions (sketches) and computer display & printouts of each student for 100 marks (40 marks for solutions & sketches + 60 marks for computer display and printouts) and submit the marks list along with the solution (sketches) on graph sheets & computer printouts in separate covers. Each batch must consist of a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 12 students.

Unit V : Sections And Development of Lateral Surfaces of Solids

Students are required to turn in lettering templates for every class period to help improve their writing communication skills. Students are required to use the same writing techniques on their exams and other papers required from the course. Course Objective (2): Learn basics of drafting. (Use of drawing Instruments) Course Outcomes: Learn to take data and transform it into graphic drawings. Assignments: that demonstrate accomplishment of this outcome. 1. Students are required to take problems from text books and sketch them on grid paper.

Course Objective (3): Students will be able to solve problems on projection of points, projection of lines, Course Outcomes: Learn to take data and transform it into graphic drawings. Assignments: that demonstrate accomplishment of this outcome. 2. Students are required to take objects and technical drawings from the technical manual and sketch and dimension them on grid paper.

Students are required to go on a field project, take the dimensions of a predetermined project sketch them on engineering paper and transfer the data to an electronic drawing. 2. Students are required to take sketches and technical drawings from a technical drawing and convert them into cad drawings.

Course Objective (5): Learn basic auto Cad skills. Course Outcomes: Students will become familiar with Auto Cad’s two dimensional drawings. Assignments: that demonstrate accomplishment of this outcome. 1. Students learn how to operate Solid Edge V19 and transform sketches and technical data into electronic drawings.

Course Objective (6): Learn basic engineering formats: Course Outcomes: Students will become familiar with office practice and standards. Assignments: that demonstrate accomplishment of this outcome. 1. Students learn basic office practice and standards by learning basic drawing skills and dimensioning techniques. They learn basic welding symbols and their use. Additionally they learn basic drawing formats. They are tested on two exams that are focused on dimensioning and welding symbols.

Course Objective (7): Prepare the student for future Engineering positions: Course Outcomes: Students will develop good communication skills and team work Assignments: that demonstrate accomplishment of this outcome. 1. In the professional project, students are broken down into teams to work on a real life project and deal with real life clients. Students must go through the five stages of the design process to solve a real life project, culminating in a presentation to the client, with the client judging the students on their performance.
