Capstone Case: 1 Business Profile: New Century Wellness Group offers a holistic approach to health care with an emphasis on preventive medicine as well as traditional medical care. Recommendations: I would recommend a business system with an included transaction processor. Each department needs access to a variety of information in order to make achieve success. Doctors need information to help patients. Patient billing requires customer personal information as well as insurance information. The appointment manager needs information on the doctors' schedules. The transaction processor will aid s receivable and billing processes. An ERP shouldn’t be necessary since each department does not need access to all of the information. Method: I would recommend an agile software development system. There are many facets, and each on needs to be developed separately. This would allow for a single department to transition at a time, rather than the whole company being trained and adjusting to a new system all at once. This will also make planning simpler, since one implementation at a time.This could help to tackle tough problems, since more devotion to a certain area until it is satisfactory. This will also allow a shorter timeline for each department’s solution. A potential downside to this approach is a longer overall timeline, resulting in a department feeling neglected.

An EMR is more beneficial than paper records, it allows providers to track historical data and identify patients who are due for visits. The provider can easily compare patient results to a population’s average, and the overall care can be improved. OE systems are designed to replace a hospital's paper-based ordering system. They allow s to electronically write the full range of orders, maintain an online medication istration record, and review changes made to an order by successive personnel. They also off safety alerts, triggered when an unsafe order is entered. However they require an exceptional amount of effort and customization before they can be effectively implemented. A CDS provides clinicians, staff, patients or other individuals with knowledge and personspecific information, intelligently filtered or presented at appropriate times, to enhance health and health care. The potential benefits are increased quality of care with avoidance of errors, improved efficiency including cost benefit as well a patient satisfaction.

First I will meet with key managers, s, and IT staff to describe the project, explain responsibilities, answer questions, and invite comments. This will help me gain insight to better understand the problem or opportunity. Next I’ll observe operations and review documentation. Once all necessary info is gathered, I’ll decide what is feasible based on cost and timetable.

Based on my preliminary investigation, this project will be feasible. From an operational standpoint, the current team works well together and a very efficient as is. So an overhaul of the systems to make them work better together will be very beneficial. There is already some technology in place so this will not be a drastic change to bring everything up to speed, considering paper based items. Economically this new system will have a substantial price, but will most certainly payoff in the long run. This new system will take a large amount of time to get each department encomed into one system while addressing each need. Much testing will be needed due to the sensitivity of the data being used.

As well as a for clinical application including an Electronic Medical Records system, a Computerized Provider Order Entry system, and a Clinical Decision System.
