Word Formation Processes (Clipping, Blending, Compounding, Acronyms, and Derivation) At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:  distinguish the differences among the word formation process.  create a dialog that uses all the word formation processes discussed.  present a dialog of how professionals talk to each other.  realized the importance of word formation processes in conversations among professionals. EXPLORE 1. Have the class do a group activity named “Imagine Me Without You”. 2. Divide the class into 5 groups 3. Explain/Present the following instructions:  Each group will be given sets of words to arrange.  Use the boards to place the arranged words.  Do this in 3 minutes.  The group who will finish the task first will be the winner. 4. Next, have them brainstorm their observation on how the words were formed. 5. Each group will have one speaker to share their

FIRM UP 1. To start with the discussion,, the class will be asked with the questions:  “Can you imagine if there is no word as ‘brunch’?”  “Can you also imagine if we haven’t used affixes?”  “Can you imagine if we cannot use ways in saying the words in a manner that is convenient and catchy?” 2. Call on students to recite. 3. Introduction of the word formation processes will follow. 4. Have the class cite their own examples of the different word formation processes.
