WHAT IS ISTRATION DEFINITIONS According to Haimann, “istration means overall determination of policies, setting of major objectives, the identification of general purposes and lying down of broad programs and projects”. According to Newman, “istration means guidance, leadership and control of the efforts of the groups towards some common goals”. The key to understanding of what istration means is clear from the following diagram.

The goal of istration is to ensure smooth running of the organizational processes by coordinating people participating in the processes and providing them with information needed for completing their assignments. istration deals with gathering, processing and communicating information. Practically, everybody working for an organization participates in the istrative activities. Even those who do not hold any managerial position participate when receiving written or oral instructions and reporting back on the outcome of their work. Those who have managerial positions complete much more istrative activities for example, they are engaged in planning of various processes and asg resources to various activities in the real world situations. The istration is regulated by rules that prescribe who should be doing what and in what order in each type of the processes. Rules can exist in a written form or as a tradition. They can even be incorporated in computerized tools.
