Hello everyone! Here is the written pattern for this beautiful shawl I made, a combination of the virus Shawl and granny stitch. Now it is unknown who the designer of the virus shawl actually is, if anyone knows please let me know so I can give credit for the virus pattern used in this project. There are a few graphs going around on the internet that take inspiration but again the origin is not known

The graph you see above you is what inspired my design! There are a few online tutorials of the virus shawl so if you need visual aid, please do look them up!

Materials needed:

500g of medium worsted yarn (DK) This will make a shawl with fringe to the same length as mine, you can go bigger or smaller if you wish to 3.5mm hook Yarn needle Abbreviations: Ch= chain Ss = slip stitch Sc = single crochet Dc = double crochet

Let’s get started! (ch3 counts as a stitch!) R1: C10 and ss to the last ch from the hook to form a loop, now ch3 and dc 19 into the loop, turn your work R2: Ch3, dc in to the next 18 stitches and dc into the top of ch3 from previous row, turn your work R3: Ch4 (this is your first dc + ch1) *dc in to the next dc, ch1* to last dc, dc in to the top of ch3 from previous row, turn your work R4: Ch10, skip the first ch1 space and sc into the next ch1 space, *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space* do for a total of 3 times, giving you 3 ch4 loops. Ch7,skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space, ch7, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space, *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc

in to the next ch1 space* do for a total of 3 times, giving you 3 ch4 loops, ch7 and dc in to ch3 on ch4 from previous row, turn your work R5: Ch3 and do 9 dc into ch7 loop, sc in to c4 loop, ch4 and sc in to next ch4 loop, ch4 and sc in to next ch4 loop, 10 dc in to ch7 loop, 10 dc in to next ch7 loop, sc in to next ch4 loop, ch4 and sc in to next ch4 loop, ch4 and sc in to next ch4 loop, 10 dc in to ch10 loop, turn your work R6: ch3, dc in to next 9 stitches, sc in to next ch4 loop, ch4 and sc in to next ch4 loop, dc in next 20 stitches (be sure to start on the first dc from previous row and not the sc!) sc in to next ch4 loop, ch4 and sc in to the next ch4 loop, dc in to last 10 stitches ( your last dc goes in to 3 rd ch ) R7: Ch4, dc in next stitch, ch1, do this along the 10 stitches but do not ch1 on the last stitch, skip the ch4 loop and dc into the next stitch, ch1 and dc in to next stitch repeat a long this middle section (which is 20 stitches but again do not ch1 on the last stitch) skip the next ch4 loop, dc in to the next stitch, ch1 and repeat along to the last stitch ( do not ch1 on your last stitch) Turn your work R8: Ch10 skip the ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space, *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space* do for a total of 3 times, giving you 3 ch4 loops. Ch7 skip the next 3 spaces and sc in to 4th space *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space* do for a total of 3 times, giving you 3 ch4 loops. Ch7,skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space, ch7, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space, *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1 space* do for a total of 3 times, giving you 3 ch4 loops. Ch7 skip the next 3 spaces and sc in to 4th space *ch4, skip the next ch1 space and sc in to the next ch1

Now you will continue to work instructions from R5-7 just you have been increasing so there will be more loops and stitches to make, but the pattern, big loop, 3 small loops big loop, 3small loops.....then in the middle it’s 2 big loops then back to 3 small loops etc Once done we are now moving on to the granny stitch section Granny Stitch Section R1: Ch3 and 2 dc in to first ch1 space, skip next ch1 space, 3dc in to next ch1 space and you are going to continue doing that a long until you have 15 3dc clusters, do 3dc, ch2, 3dc in to next ch1 space (this is your middle point) 3dc in to next ch1 space, skip next ch1 space, continue this along to the end ending with 3dc in the final space R2: Ch3, 2dc in the same stitch (this counts as your first 3dc cluster) now do your 3dc cluster in between clusters from the previous row until you get to the middle point where you will do 3dc, ch2, 3dc in to the ch2 space, then back to doing the 3dc clusters in between clusters from the previous row, after you work 3dc into final space you then want to do 3dc in to top of ch3, this is an increase! Repeat R2 until you have 6 rows of the granny stitch Now we are switching back to the Virus pattern Ch10 and sc in between the 1st cluster, *ch4, sc in to space of next cluster, do this for a total of 3 times giving you 3 ch4 loops, ch7 and skip 2 clusters, sc in to next cluster space* repeat a long to middle

point this is where we place the 2 ch7 loops, *ch4, sc in to space of next cluster, do this for a total of 3 times giving you 3 ch4 loops, ch7 and skip 2 clusters, sc in to next cluster space* repeat to end, turn your work Now repeat R5-8 until you have 3 full virus sections completed, you will then go on to repeat the granny stitch section for a total of 6 rows and then again switch back to the virus pattern see the underlined instructions above to get you started again and then repeat R5-8 until you have 3 full virus sections, which will end on R7 To finish off, sc evenly along the top of the shawl, fasten off and weave in ends. To fringe or not to fringe is entirely up to you, but I’ve fringed in every ch1 space using 3 strands of yarn

As usual I don’t mind you selling your finished projects but please don’t copy this pattern and off as your own, give the designer credit when it’s due.
