abstract the low rate of female participation in politics compared to that of their male counter- parts in nigeria creates a need to examine the situation in this study, "the role of broadcast media in mobilizing women for political participation in nigeria". this study examines the problems, first, defining the importance of women to participate in politics. the survey research method was employed in this study and questionnaires were used for data collection, then the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical procedure to reach a definite conclusion.

the results reflect that broadcast media have positive impact in mobilizing women to participate in politics. in summary, broadcast media is found wanting in fostering development for gender equality in politics. in recommendations, suggestion of ways to stimulate female participation was made by looking at practical examples of how this was done in the pre-colonial era. finally, in conclusion, the study emphasizes that no sex or gender is more important than the other because in politics, intellectual ability counts more than physical energy.

abstract examination malpractices in nigeria have attained a frightening proportion. it is sophisticated and institutionalized. examination malpractice is rated as one of the greatest problems that undermine the foundation of educational practice in nigeria today. thus, this study investigated effect of public service information campaign (also called public service advertising-psa) on examination malpractice prevention in higher institutions case study of imt (polytechnic) and escet (college of education). research questions (based on the problems of the study) were drafted and addressed through the use of survey (questionnaire) method, observation method, tabular presentation of data, simple descriptive analysis and chi-square goodness of fit test for hypothesis testing. from the study, outdoor psas are an unpopular medium. in spite of this, the researcher has tried to emphasize the relative importance of this medium especially as it regards effective anti-examination malpractice campaigns. the problems identified concerning time and placement disunity, wrong choice of medium for the campaign, lack of consideration for students’ mobility, little attention paid towards the campaign and lack of positive attitudinal results.

Traditional Media Of Communication As Tools For Effective Rural Development abstract the study is a critical examination of the role of mass media in traditional media of communication as tools for effective rural development. notwithstanding the various modern means of communication such as radio, internet, television, newspapers, magazines, etc. the rural means of communication is still the epitome for rural development. these traditional medium of communication includes the following ekwe, ikoro, smoke signals, open market, age groups, palm fronds, the town crier oja etc. however, both primary and secondary data will be used in gathering information for the study. the secondary data will come as a review of documented materials, while the primary data will be obtained with the help of questionnaire and oral interview, and will be istered to the ruralites with the help of the researcher, who will help the uneducated ones to fill in the boxes by explaining the questions to them. a total of 382 questionnaires will be distributed precisely to the residents of iwollo oghe community. the data collected will be tabulated and analyzed using percentages. the three hypotheses formulated will be tested using chi-square method respectively-

abstract this is a study that is pre-occupied with an in-depth analysis of the influence of mass media pm the coverage of human rights activities and also on political issues in nigeria. some national deilies like the vangurage, new nigerian, punch and daily times newspapers were critically evaluated and content analyzed, on a given period of time. in achieving this, we embarked on a look into the extent of coverage given to human rights issues as regards their views on national political issues. the press objectivity coverage quest and the ownership restrictions were also studied to determine whether it has any relevance with ethnicity or not. there is also a drawn comparison between newspapers which area supposed to have the characters of ethnicity and those that area biased based on the ownership pattern. on the whole, five hypothesis were examined. the first hypothesis says that “is privately controlled newspapers report more objectively on human rights issues in

nigeria then the government owned newspapers” which was accepted by the result of this study. the second hypothesis which states that tribalism and religious sentiments, play prominent role in nigeria media more than professional journalism in governing political right issues. the results obtained in this study also accepted this hypothesis. the third and fifth hypothesis also lent statistical . however, the forth hypothesis which states that media, operating with a particular geographical location will emphasize their interest above any other consideration in their coverage of political and human rights issues was to some extend rejected. a part of our recommendation is that since ethnicity has been revealed to be interfering with the objective of events, identified sectionalists should be denied licenses to own news paper or other mass media gadgets to allow free hards so as to ensure objectivity of coverage and true practices of ethical journalistic measurer. it’s therefore hoped that this research work will help to improve the mass media coverage of human right issues as this will educate and enlighten the society on their rights, which they at not fully aware of.

6. Mass Media And The Coverage Of Human Rights Issues In Nigeria
abstract this is a study that is pre-occupied with an in-depth analysis of the influence of mass media pm the coverage of human rights activities and also on political issues in nigeria. some national deilies like the vangurage, new nigerian, punch and daily times newspapers were critically evaluated and content analyzed, on a given period of time. in achieving this, we embarked on a look into the extent of coverage given to human rights issues as regards their views on national political issues. the press objectivity coverage quest and the ownership restrictions were also studied to determine whether it has any relevance with ethnicity or not. there is also a drawn comparison between newspapers which area supposed to have the characters of ethnicity and those that area biased based on the ownership pattern. on the whole, five hypothesis were examined. the first hypothesis says that “is privately controlled newspapers report more objectively on human rights issues in

nigeria then the government owned newspapers” which was accepted by the result of this study. the second hypothesis which states that tribalism and religious sentiments, play prominent role in nigeria media more than professional journalism in governing political right issues. the results obtained in this study also accepted this hypothesis. the third and fifth hypothesis also lent statistical . however, the forth hypothesis which states that media, operating with a particular geographical location will emphasize their interest above any other consideration in their coverage of political and human rights issues was to some extend rejected. a part of our recommendation is that since ethnicity has been revealed to be interfering with the objective of events, identified sectionalists should be denied licenses to own news paper or other mass media gadgets to allow free hards so as to ensure objectivity of coverage and true practices of ethical journalistic measurer. it’s therefore hoped that this research work will help to improve the mass media coverage of human right issues as this will educate and enlighten the society on their rights, which they at not fully aware of.

The Advent Of Modern Communication Gadgets: Implications For Nigerian Journalism abstract the advent of modern communication gadget –implication for nigerian journalism. the title of this study took a vivid look at the coming of communication gadget, more powerful than the ancient ones to take care of adequate communication outreach to the whole world. it treats in succession the introduction of communication among the early men, the need for and the introduction of ancient communication gadgets, gradual innovations of the old and the invention of better communication gadgets and the proliferation of the gadgets into what is today know as the global village of communication. five chapters were used to achieve our win on this topic. chapter one: introduce the topic in forms of background to the study, significance of the study, objectives, definitions of and references. chapter two- deals with review of related literatures and comments. chapter three – in accomplishing this task, we adopted the historical methodology in our research using investigative approach. chapter four- analysis of the data collected in chapter three. chapter five- we made conclusions and recommendations based on the topic we have studied. it is our belief that this research is an additional material or knowledge in this area of human endeavour.
