-T gives each student a worksheet and asks them to fill in the blanks with the appropriate tense. See exercise A from Annex 1 -Ss listen and complete the exercise individually at first, then they check their answers in pairs. -T checks their work

-to practise understanding of the rules
-T draws two faces on the board, one on the left and one on the right, and asks the students to copy these into their notebooks. She tells the class that the person on the left is called Charles, that he was a famous explorer, and that he lived in the 15th century. The person on the right is called Brian, he is also an explorer, and he is 70 this year. T gives each student a sentence about each explorer. See Annex 1, exercise B -Ss have to stick their sentences under the appropriate picture -T checks and correct if necessary

-T divides the class into groups of 5 and 6, and then asks the students to imagine that they are going to interview Brian and William (Charles'great great....... grandson). -Ss prepare their questions and answers and then they report back to the class.
