Literary Work as a Recreation of Life Experience

Literary work does not necessarily present accurate information about the real life experience (although it may be so as a secondary consideration), rather it causes us to recognize truths about the human existence through the  direct presentation of selected experiences. Possibly, it does not present the way people act and feel, but it involves us these actions and drives us to respond to them.

PRODUCTS OF LEARNING  Some analysis on appointed short story (groups)  An analysis on appointed short story (mid-test)  Some analysis on an appointed novel (group projects)  An analysis on self-chosen novel (final test)

First Week Assignment: Reader Response • an essay used to express a thoughtful reaction to poem, short story, novel essay, or other forms of text someone has read. • based on the theory that the individual creates her or his own meaning through a "transaction" with the text based on personal associations.

Outline of Reader Response • Section 1: introduction What point interests me the most? How it is shown through the story? • Section 2: Discussion on the main point Why the point interests me? Which parts of the story express the point? • Section 3: Reflection & Recommendation Do I agree with the point? Does it remind me of something else I have read or heard or any current issues or problems? Does it motivate me to read other works by this author, or not? Why or why not? To whom I should recommend the story?
