Many areas are now replacing old radio systems with high-tech digital systems. Most can still be monitored with advanced digital scanners. If you can no longer hear the police in your area you probably need a new scanner. Also, be aware, most Motorola trunking systems will be “re-banding” requiring either a new scanner or a scanner firmware upgrade.

The cost for a non trunking radio is $29.95 to program if you bought the scanner from us and $39.95 for pre-owned. A trunking radio is $69.95 if you bought the scanner from us and $89.95 for pre-owned. The Pro version will also allow you to record scanner audio to WAV files on your computer and store logs of communications activity. Lite versions provide programming only. There is no better way to improve reception, whether for base or mobile scanning, then by adding an outside antenna. For home or office scanners we recommend a base station antenna, such as the Discone for all-band monitoring. If you want to really improve performance on a single radio band, check out our professional base station antennas, either omnidirectional or directional for most receiver gain. Aiming a yagi (beam) antenna at a station or region that uses a common band (such as 800 MHz trunking or 460 MHz UHF) will pull in signals you never dreamed of. For mobile scanners we urge you to mount a mobile antenna somewhere on your vehicle. Getting the antenna out from under the steel roof of your car or truck will provide a huge improvement. Not everyone wants another antenna on their car so we offer various types and mounting options. For portable scanners you can buy antennas tuned to specific bands, (such as 800 MHz) some of which will improve trunking performance, but other bands will suffer. There is no better way to improve reception, whether for base or mobile scanning, then by adding an outside antenna. For home or office scanners we recommend a base station antenna, such as the Discone for all-band monitoring. If you want to really improve performance on a single radio band, check out our professional base station antennas, either omnidirectional or directional for most receiver gain. Aiming a yagi (beam) antenna at a station or region that uses a common band (such as 800 MHz trunking or 460 MHz UHF) will pull in signals you never dreamed of. For mobile scanners we urge you to mount a mobile antenna somewhere on your vehicle. Getting the antenna out from under the steel roof of your car or truck will provide a huge improvement. Not everyone wants another antenna on their car so we offer various types and mounting options. For portable scanners you can buy antennas tuned to specific bands, (such as 800 MHz) some of which will improve trunking performance, but other bands will suffer. Other wide-band portable antennas provide some general improved reception across all bands. Base Antennas (All-Band unless noted)
