About the AquaCiser
AquaCiser® III
4.4.3 Center Platform The center platform is the area between the reservoir and therapy pool (See Components, page 10). The operator stands on the platform to operate the Command Console and monitor the therapy session. Access s for the lint basket, plumbing, and chlorine dispenser are located in the center platform. CHLORINE DISPENSER ACCESS The chlorine dispenser (Figure 4) is located inside the first access at the top of the stairs (see Components, page 10). The chlorine dispenser adds chlorine to the water to help control bacteria and algae growth, and the chlorine minimizes soap and mineral buildup. Most s should set the rocker power switch on the chlorine dispenser to ‘TIMER’ and use the control knob to adjust how quickly chlorine is added to the water (see Chlorine Dispenser Settings at right and Water Condition on pages 48 and 49). PLUMBING ACCESS The plumbing access is in the center of the platform and allows access to the heater, Jandy valves and plumbing. LINT BASKET ACCESS The lint basket access is located nearest the Controls Box and allows access to the lint basket for cleaning, and to additional plumbing.
4.4.4 Therapy Pool The therapy pool (see Components, page 10) is the chamber in which a person exercises for aquatic therapy. The therapy pool contains the entry/exit door, treill, Emergency Drain buttons, therapy and turbo jets, and lamps. THERAPY POOL DOOR LEVER The door lever (Figure 5) secures the therapy pool door. Keep the door securely fastened at all times, including when the AquaCiser is not in use. Open only for a patient to enter or exit the therapy pool. To open: Swing the lever up until it is parallel with the door. To secure: Shut the door and pull the lever down until it stops (Figure 5). If the door is not fastened securely, a sensor on the door latch indicates a fault, “Tank Door Open,” and filling or draining the therapy pool is disabled. Always the door is securely closed by pulling the lever to the completely closed position as shown in Figure 5.
Control Knob
Figure 4 Chlorine Dispenser
Rocker Switch
Chlorine Dispenser Settings Most s should set the rocker switch to “TIMER” and use the control knob to set the amount of chlorine added to the water. An AquaCiser with VERY LOW use (1-3 people per day) may need to use the “ON” setting in order to keep enough chlorine in the water. When set to “ON,” chlorine is added to the water whenever the pump or filter are in use.
Important Flooding can occur if the therapy pool door is not securely fastened. Always close and secure the door by pulling the lever down after the patient enters or exits the therapy pool.
LAMPS The AquaCiser has one light and a rotating color wheel. Fiber-optic lines direct the colored light to four lamps in the therapy chamber. (Two are visible in Figure 6, page 13). Use the command console to turn the lamps ON and OFF (see Components, page 10). When ON, the lights change color periodically.

About the AquaCiser
AquaCiser® III JETS The AquaCiser has two types of water jet: therapy and turbo (Figure 6). The jets are controlled from the command console (see Components, page 10). Only one type of jet can be used at a time. Turning one type of jet ON automatically turns the other type of jets OFF. All jets can be aimed as needed.
Therapy Jets (6 this end)
Note: The filter operates when the jets are used. Therapy Jets (12 total, 6 each end) - Therapy jets inject a mixture of water and air into the therapy pool. Six jets are installed at each end of the therapy chamber. They provide resistance and massaging pressure for the patient from multiple angles. The water level must be above the jets for the jets to be used. Sensors in the therapy pool read the water level and turn on only the jets that are below water level. For example, to use only the lowest therapy jets (2 front and 2 rear), stop filling the therapy pool when the water level covers the lowest jets. Turbo Jets (2) - The turbo jets are located at the front (command console end) of the therapy pool. They forcefully push streams of water (without air) through the therapy pool and provide strong pressure or resistance for the patient, from one direction. The water level must be above the turbo jets for use. Examples: If the patient is walking or jogging while facing the therapy chamber doors, the turbo jets provide assistance by pushing water toward the back of the patient’s legs. If the patient is facing the command console end, the turbo jets provide resistance by pushing water against the front of the legs. Follow your therapy protocols for appropriate use of the turbo jets.
Turbo Jets (2) Lamps (2 this end)
Figure 6 - Therapy Jets, Turbo Jets, Lamps Locking Clamps
RESTING SEAT 250 lb 113 kg
The clear acrylic plastic resting seat is located at the front (command console end) of the therapy pool. Lower the seat to provide a place for the patient to sit if he/she tires during the therapy session. Also use the seat to allow the patient to sit and perform stretching exercises with or without therapy jets in use. Pull the seat down to lower it for use. Push the seat up and into its locking clamps (Figure 7) to store it. The load limit of the seat when dry (not under water) is 250 pounds (113 kg).

Important Flooding can occur if the therapy pool door is not fastened. Always close and secure the door by pulling the lever down after the patient enters or exits the therapy pool.
The trained AquaCiser operator does the following: 1. Assist the patient as he/she enters the therapy pool, if needed. 2. Securely close the therapy pool door. that the door is secure before continuing. 3. Follow the physician’s and/or therapist’s order and set the appropriate water level for the patient (for examples, see Figures 11 and 12). ●
To fill the therapy pool, press the FILL button.
●
To stop filling the therapy pool, press POOL OFF when the water is at the desired level.
●
If the filling process is not stopped earlier, a sensor will shut off the pump when the water depth reaches 48" (about 122 cm) inside the therapy pool.
Before draining the therapy pool: 1. Stop the treill using the Treill Functions screen (see Treill Functions Screen, pages 20-21). 2. Press JETS OFF on the Therapy Pool Functions screen. 3. USING THE LAMPS Press the LAMP ON and LAMP OFF buttons to control the four lamps in the therapy pool. While activated, the light will change color periodically (Figure 13). FILTER
Figure 13 - Therapy Jets and Lamps in Use
When the filter is ON (Enabled): ●
The water is cycled through the filter.
●
The water moves through the heater.
●
Chlorine is added to the water.
Hudson strongly recommends that you press ENABLE FILTER to filter the water whenever the water is in the reservoir. Filtering the water removes impurities, controls algae growth and keeps the water at the Setpoint temperature by warming it as needed. Note: All of the water must be in the reservoir for the filter to run. The filter cannot be enabled when there is water in the therapy pool. Enabling the filter is one way to increase the water temperature if the water is colder than the Setpoint. To warm the water, enter a Setpoint that is higher than the current water temperature and press ENABLE FILTER. The filter will run until the water reaches the Setpoint and will stop automatically. Note: The other way to warm the water is to turn ON any of the jets while the water is in the therapy pool.
Leaving the Filter Enabled It is good operating practice to allow the AquaCiser to filter and/or warm the water as needed. Do the following: 1. Move all of the water to the reservoir any time the AquaCiser will be idle, and during the End of Day sequence (page 38). 2. Press ENABLE FILTER. ●
If the water temperature is at the Setpoint, the AquaCiser will turn ON and run (“cycle”) for a minimum of 10 minutes every eight hours to filter and add chlorine to the water (see Water Condition, pages 48-49).
●
If the water temperature falls below the Setpoint before eight hours have elapsed, the filter and heater will operate to maintain the water temperature at the Setpoint.
●
The heater operates with the filter when the water temperature is 2° F (1.1° C) or more colder than the Setpoint temperature. The heater and filter will run until the water temperature equals the Setpoint and then stop automatically.
Important Move all water to the reservoir and press FILTER ENABLE whenever the AquaCiser will be idle. The filter will run 10 minutes every 8 hours to cycle the water (minimum), or it will turn on as needed to keep the water at the Setpoint temperature.

Do NOT attempt to adjust all three properties of the water (chlorine, pH and alkalinity) at the same time. Each property affects the others. Always adjust the chlorine levels first, followed by the pH and then the alkalinity.
For additional chlorine dispenser information, see the RolaChem Chlorinator manual included with the AquaCiser. Also see the Chlorine Dispenser information on page 11. If problems persist, see Basic Troubleshooting, pages 50-51.
ADJUSTING THE CHLORINE LEVELS
ADJUSTING PH AND ALKALINITY LEVELS
If the chlorine levels are within the proper ranges: turn the chlorine dispenser setting to LOW so the level does not change when the filter is running. If the chlorine levels tested high: Bring the levels down by replacing some of the water in the AquaCiser. After adding water, retest the water condition and make further adjustments as needed. If the chlorine levels tested low: 1. Check the chlorine container to that it is not empty and that the suction tube is reaching the chlorine (See Replacing the Chlorine Container, page 41). 2. Press ENABLE FILTER to begin cycling the water, or fill the therapy pool above at least one pair of therapy jets and turn the jets ON. 3. the chlorine dispenser rocker switch is on TIMER (not OFF) and adjust the chlorine dispenser control knob to the next highest number on the dial.
●
Adjust the pH after adjusting the chlorine levels. Chemicals are available to raise or lower the pH level (see Supplies, page 52). Follow the chemical manufacturer’s guidelines for use and consult the chemical MSDS sheet for details on any required Personal Protective Equipment.
●
If needed, adjust the alkalinity after the chlorine levels and pH levels are in range.
●
If the three water properties cannot be brought into the acceptable range, the water may be contaminated. Discard the water, clean the AquaCiser and add fresh water, following the Maintenance Sequence, pages 42-46.
●
If you still have trouble after changing the water and you are sure no contamination is taking place, test the incoming water source outside of the AquaCiser.
●
If the incoming water source is out of range, your local or state water authority for assistance and further testing.
4. Retest the chlorine levels in one-half hour to one hour and see how much the levels have changed. 5. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to make further water adjustments as needed. 6. When the chlorine levels are within the acceptable

SOLUTION: Refer to the Service Manual for assistance in clearing system faults. PROBLEM: Jets do not work. SOLUTION 1: The water level has not reached the height of the sensor. Fill the therapy pool until the water is above the jets and sensor. SOLUTION 2: The sensor(s) are dirty or are coated with petroleum jelly from over-lubricating the door seal. Clean the sensor(s) and retest. If the problem persists, check the PLC Inputs/Outputs (refer to the Service Manual), or call for service. PROBLEM: Use of chlorine increases. SOLUTION 1: Patients may be bringing dirt into the AquaCiser. Have patients shower before using the AquaCiser. SOLUTION 2: Check and clean or replace the filter. SOLUTION 3: your local or state water authority for information and further testing. PROBLEM: AquaCiser will not fill therapy pool. SOLUTION 1: The sensor that checks that the door is closed may not be activated. Check the door lever for tightness and pull the door lever down as far as it will go. SOLUTION 2: The alarm is sounding and/or a fault such as the over-temperature warning is shown on the Command Console. If the water is over temperature, discard some water and refill with cooler water. If a different fault is indicated, refer to the Service Manual for assistance. PROBLEM: AquaCiser will not completely fill the Therapy Pool. SOLUTION: The reservoir does not have enough water in it. Press DRAIN TO RESERVOIR to pump all the water to the reservoir, then add water until the water level reaches the Fill Line (see Check the Water Level, page 31). : test the water condition if water is added. 50
PROBLEM: Water does not heat. SOLUTIONS: ●
The heater setting is too low. Adjust the water temperature Setpoint (See Setting the Water Temperature, page 17).
●
The thermal overload on the heater circuit breaker has tripped. Reset the heater (see page 51).
●
The pump motor has overheated. Allow time for the pump motor to cool.
●
The lint basket is clogged. Clean the basket (See Clean the Lint Basket, page 44).
●
The filter is clogged. Change the filter (See Change the Filter Cartridge, page 45).
PROBLEM: Water gets too hot. SOLUTION: The water Setpoint is too high. Adjust the Setpoint to a lower temperature. See Setting the Water Temperature, page 17. SOLUTION: The jets have been in use for a long time (the filter runs when the jets are ON). Reduce jet use or schedule patients so the jets are not ON for long periods of time. PROBLEM: Treill won’t run. SOLUTIONS: ●
The treill is stopped. Press START on the Treill Functions Screen and press INC to increase the speed (See Treill Functions Screen, pages 20-21).

AquaCiser® III PROBLEM: Chlorine Levels too low/levels do not increase. SOLUTIONS: ● The chlorine container is empty. Change the chlorine container (See Replacing the Chlorine Container, page 41). ● The rocker power switch on the side of the chlorine dispenser has been turned to OFF. Move the rocker to the ‘ON’ or ‘TIMER’ position (Figure 51). ● The chlorine dispenser is set too low. the chlorine dispenser rocker switch is on TIMER, then adjust the chlorine dispenser control knob (See the chlorine dispenser information on page 12 and Adjusting the Chlorine Levels, page 49). PROBLEM: When filling the therapy pool, the AquaCiser stops and a “Low Pressure” message is displayed. SOLUTIONS: ● There is too little water in the AquaCiser, causing the heater to lose pressure. Press DRAIN TO RESERVOIR to pump all the water to the reservoir, then add water until the water level reaches the Fill Line (see Check the Water Level, page 31). : test the water condition if water is added. ● If the water level is okay, check the heater pressure switch. (Refer to the Service Manual) or call for assistance. PROBLEM: “Possible Leak Detected” message displayed. SOLUTIONS: ● If a patient was undergoing vigorous exercise in the therapy pool, water may have been splashed down inside the AquaCiser, setting off this alarm. Allow the sensor to dry. ● Water may be leaking under the AquaCiser. See Troubleshooting Water Leaks in the Service Manual.
