Welcome to the Express Publishing software. In order to use this software you need to follow some simple steps.

Activating the Software This software requires activation. The activation process is a simple and short procedure and requires that you have access to the Internet (see Fig 1). Once activated, the ieBook runs offline and does not require Internet access.

1 Type in your full name and the serial number (as found on the first page of your Course Book or on the cover of your CD/DVD) and click Submit.

Activation Validity There are 3 activations available for the respective software. Once activated for the first time, a one-year period commences, which means that the other two activations that are available must be used within this one-year period. However, once activated, the validity of the software is for life (on the respective computer/computers).

If you don’t use the other two activations within the one-year period, you will require the purchase of a new Course Book or CD/DVD (see Fig 2).

If you activate the software and during the one-year period you upgrade your computer substantially or change your computer, then the software deactivates automatically and you will need to activate again, thus using the second activation that is available for the respective software. If you have used all three activations and you wish to activate the software a fourth time, you will need to purchase a new Course Book or CD/DVD (see Fig 3).

If you type in an incorrect Serial Number, the application will advise you of this and you will be requested to try again (see Fig 4).

Activation Requirements In order to activate the software you require access to the Internet. If your Firewall is activated, deactivate it temporarily prior to commencing the activation process of the software (see Fig 5).

If you do not have Internet access on the computer on which you wish to use the software, please follow the instructions provided in the following section. 5

Activating the Software with the use of a USB stick If you do not have Internet access on the computer on which you wish to use this software, you will need to activate it on a computer that does have Internet access, and then transfer the activation to the original computer. This can be done with the use of a USB stick. 1 Plug the USB stick into the computer (with no Internet access) on which you wish to activate the use of this software. 2 Copy the file ACT from the CD/DVD to the USB stick and run the file from the USB stick. This message will appear on screen (see Fig 6). 3 You may now remove the USB stick from the computer and transfer the USB stick to a computer that has Internet access. After plugging in the USB stick, run the ACT file from the USB stick again. You will be prompted to activate the software (see Fig 7).

If any error messages are displayed during the activation process, refer to pages 3-5 of this manual.

Activation Completed When the activation is successfully completed, you will receive the following message (see Fig 8).

You may now remove the USB stick from the computer and transfer the USB stick to the original computer on which you wanted to activate this software. Plug in the USB stick and run the ACT file again. The following message will be displayed (see Fig 9).

You may now place the CD/DVD in your computer and run the software.

If you try to transfer the activation to another computer (and not to the original computer), the following message will be displayed (see Fig 10).

Troubleshooting (Activation) If you experience issues with the activation of your iebook software, please visit: www.expresspublishing.co.uk.

Troubleshooting (Mac s) 1 If you have inserted the disk in your drive and the application opens and closes automatically without showing any prompts, this means that you do not have the minimum requirements (see cover page for Minimum System Requirements). 2 If you provide your name and the correct serial number, but a prompt appears which tells you that there is no Internet connection (and you do have Internet connection), this means that the Internet connection is via a proxy server and you need to change the settings to direct connection.
