It has been observed that Cebuano-Visayan music is waning and the invasion of foreign music is even more dominant than our own music. Thus, this study is being conducted to determine the status of Cebuano-Visayan Music specifically among the students from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Cebu Normal University. The study used triangulation method: Survey, Observation and Interview from the randomly selected respondents from all year levels through conducting survey questionnaires. The study concluded that the CNU-CAS students are more inclined in listening to foreign music especially English music. However, the students itted that the Cebuano-Visayan music should not be completely neglected. The study evaluated that the courses being
offered by the university also affect the behavior of the students toward exposing themselves to Cebuano-Visayan music. The media specially the radio has an important role in the preservation and promotion of Cebuano-Visayan music. This study strived to encourage all Cebuanos who have but one great ion and respect for music and is yet to become the persons behind reviving the Cebuano music. The findings of the study may be useful in future studies in reviving local music that goes with strengthening the foundation of cultures and heritage.
